What this is

This is not a tourist experience. It is a real 100 km ultra — the same route used for Day 6 of the Okinawa Yanbaru Ultra Camp. Coastal roads, UNESCO Yanbaru forest, Cape Hedo at the northernmost tip of Okinawa.

A support car stops every 20 km with water. You carry your own food in the car. I run alongside you from start to finish.

We depart at 7 AM. We finish between 12 and 17 hours later.

The day before

The day before the 100 km, we run a half marathon together. This is not optional — it is part of the experience and part of how I assess your readiness. It is also your chance to see part of the route, find your pace, and get comfortable running with me before the main day.

Both days are included in the price.

Who this is for

You are a marathon runner who has been thinking about ultra distance for a while. You are based in Okinawa, Japan, or within a short flight. You have run at least one marathon under 4:15. You want to attempt a real 100 km — not a training simulation — with an experienced coach running every step alongside you.

This is not for beginners. The Yanbaru coast is remote. If you cannot continue, you will be far from anything. I take qualification seriously.

Who I am

Michal Činčiala

I am Michal Činčiala — Czech ultra runner and coach based on Hamahiga Island, Okinawa during the camp season (November–March). I have been racing ultras since 2012 across four continents.

Badwater 135 in Death Valley. Ultra Gobi 400 km — 10th overall. Ultra Milano-Sanremo 285 km — 3rd overall. Spartathlon. MOAB 240. Authentic Phidippides Run 500 km — Athens to Sparta and back.

I run every kilometre of the 100 km alongside every group I take out. That is not standard in the coaching world. It is what I do.

Season

October to March. The time of year when training outdoors means dark mornings, icy roads, and treadmills. Okinawa sits at subtropical latitude — 18 to 23°C during the day, dry, with daylight to run in. The camp runs regardless of weather — mental resilience in imperfect conditions is part of ultra running.
